Lewis began his career as an organizer for Service Employees International Union in Los Angeles. He was a member of the organizing team that mobilized thousands of security officers for the SOULA2006 campaign that earned Security Officers their first ever contract. Lewis moved on to represent County Employees in Santa Cruz, Salinas and San Benito County for SEIU Local 521. Lewis returned to Los Angeles gaining more experience in labor and political organizing representing LAUSD Classified Employee and Security Officers at SEIU USWW. Lewis continued his fight for social and economic justice as a political strategist for local, city and state campaigns in California.
Coordinator Scarlet Peralta
Scarlet received her Masters in Public Policy from UC Irvine in 2017, where she developed an interest for social welfare policy, specifically in how to design programs that create access to resources among marginalized communities. Her interests stemmed from her work with the Global Human Rights Brigade located in Panamá. She worked alongside a group of Panamanian attorneys to provide legal clinics in under-resourced communities. She later went on to conduct research at El Centro de Investigacion y Docencias Economicas in Mexico City. Scarlet has now lent her professional experience to aiding in the development and management of political campaigns that represent her values and belief in equity.
